For those familiar with the E-Type the Series 1 4.2 is the sweet spot between looks and functionality. It has the better synchromesh gearbox and improved interior space with more comfortable seats over the early cars but retains the beautiful exterior styling with covered headlights and split rear bumper with tail lights above that was lost in the Series 2.

This original UK car was built on August 1st 1966, just 2 days after England's famous world cup victory. Spirits would have been high as this car rolled off the production line! It is finished in its original colour of Carmen red and with the help of the Jaguar Heritage certificate I can confirm that the car still has its original engine, head and gearbox. What is also unusual is that the mileage can be verified through the large history file. The first documented MOT dates from May 9th 1980 when the car had covered 79,146 miles. Subsequent MOT certificates show that the car was still in regular use until the late 80s when, as E type values rose, it was taken off the road for a bare metal restoration. It then saw minimal use as a restored car preserving its condition. In 2007 the engine received a full rebuild and has covered just 17,000 miles since. In the last 18 months, in the hands of a retired E-Type restorer.

All lights stripped, cleaned and rebuilt
New Alloy radiator and header tank
All new water hoses
New distributor, leads and plugs
SU Carbs fully rebuilt and set up (starts on the button, hot or cold)
New ducting tubes for heater
New window rubbers and mechanism refurbished
New stainless exhaust down pipes
New wiper arms
All splines checked and greased
4 Wheel alignment

As you would expect with all of this work this is one of the best E-Types I've driven, what a great thing to pull out of the garage on a Sunday morning!!
